The Great Hall was completed in April 1954, after the roof was assembled on the ground, then disassembled for reassembling on the roof. This alone makes it one of the architectural landmarks of Chongqing . Styled after the Temple of Heaven in Beijing this five-story rotunda 65m high and 46m in diameter seats over 4200 people.
There's an interesting gallery of photos of similar buildings from around the world, a commentry on it's construction and a list of special guests who have been entertained here. Entrance Y10
Location: 175 Renmin Lu, Yuzhong District one stop from Shang Qing Si or Light Rail stop Zhenjiagang.
Opposite the Hall is the splendid Chongqing Three Gorges Museum, which stores plenty of historic and cultural relics of Chongqing.
