Was once the tallest building in Chongqing and consists of a Great Hall, flanked by the later addition of the North and South Wings and covering an area of 25,000 square meters in all.
The Hall is constructed along a central axis, and the North and South wings are symmetrically arranged on the flanks. In 1997, when Chongqing was designated as a municipality directly under the central government, a modern square was built in front of the Hall which plays host to evening dancing.
The Great Hall was completed in April 1954, after the roof was assembled on the ground, then disassembled for reassembling on the roof. This alone makes it one of the architectural landmarks of Chongqing . Styled after the Temple of Heaven in Beijing this five-story rotunda 65m high and 46m in diameter seats over 4200 people.

Opposite the Hall is the splendid Chongqing Three Gorges Museum, which stores plenty of historic and cultural relics of Chongqing.
