IMPORTANT NEWS RE: INTERNATIONAL GATHERING/SUNDAY CAFE

The International Gathering (aka Sunday CAFE) has been meeting continuously since its founding in 2007 to promote conversation among expats and the local community. CAFE stands for Chinese And Foreigner Exchange.

We are looking for new volunteer host(s). You can be male, or female, expat, or local, as long as you have an interest in meeting new people, being reliable enough to show up every Sunday afternoon, from 3pm to 6pm, and friendly enough to make newcomers feel welcome. If you can manage to take a few photos and post to cqexpat.com and our own WeChat group, that would also be great. Your commitment can be as long as short as you wish. You can be an individual, a couple of friends, or a group endeavor. I will assist until you are comfortable doing it on your own. Interested parties can contact me (Jim) at QQ: 1327783730; WeChat: jimincq; cell: 15909303001; or email: jsummoleguy@yahoo.com.

In the interim, I will be hosting the weekly meetings, but will have to reinstate the Sunday CAFE posting on cqexpat.com, because the website restricts swapping ownership of a posting.

If you would like to explore the history of the group, check out: CAFE; then Sunday CAFE; then International Gathering/New Sunday CAFE CQ for the full nine years (can you believe) of photos and commentaries. Kind of interesting!

SUNDAY MEETINGS
We meet EVERY SUNDAY (even during holidays, festivals, etc.) afternoon from 3pm to 6pm. Meetings are temporarily held at Burger King, until the group chooses a new location.
This is an informal discussion in English, with no specific topic or agenda. It is NOT an English corner, just an opportunity to socialize and make new friends.

There is also a WeChat group. Just ask someone when you come for the QR code.

Level B1, Guotai Plaza,No.108 Zourong Road, Jiefangbei, Yuzhong District, Chongqing 400010, China

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Originally founded in 2007 as the English Conversation Club by our dear friend, Jim Zacker, it was shortly renamed to C.A.F.E. for Chinese and Foreigner Exchange.

The purpose of this club is not only to engage in English conversation, but also to foster friendships.  Unlike formal meetings where we hope to get a large group, these meetings will happen as long as there are two people to converse with each other.

"I have read some comments on this web site about people being lonely/bored in Chongqing because they have no English speaking friends. This is their opportunity to change that. It is also an opportunity for English speaking Chinese members to get more exposure to English. You are invited to join us." Jim Z.
